What Our Eye Doctors Need to Know

If you've got an eye exam coming up, there are a number of things you can do to be extra ready for it. In order for us to guarantee that your exam is effective and worthwhile, there are a number of facts we'll need to know.

Because vision can be affected by seemingly unrelated changes in your body, you'll need to let us know about any differences you may have recently become aware of. To give an idea, this includes allergies, pregnancy, high blood pressure, diabetes or any other serious illness.

Our doctors will also take into consideration a few things about your lifestyle habits, like if you smoke or drink alcohol, because this can have a poor effect on your eyes. In addition, we will look at the way you use your eyes. Do you work at a computer a lot? Being aware of these details can make it easier for us to choose your treatment plan.

As a number of eye-related diseases are hereditary, it's crucial that you let us know about any of them in your immediate family, especially glaucoma or macular degeneration. It's easy to understand what it's a great deal easier to keep an eye out for symptoms when we already know what you may be prone to.

Make an appointment if you observe anything strange about your sight including double vision, blurriness, flashes of light or spots. We'll then do our very best to ascertain the cause of the condition, and then recommend the best possible way to treat it. Do remember to take your newest pair of glasses along to the exam. Your specs can tell us important things about your eyes, even if you're a contact lens wearer. We look forward to tending to your needs, and helping you attain better vision.
